Whole Life Insurance in Burbank

Whole life is permanent coverage. The premium is fixed when the policy is issued, a cash value grows alongside the benefit, and there is no expiration date to plan around. We compare carriers with you, explain each step and give you a realistic date for when coverage begins.

Permanent coverage, explained before you commit

A whole life policy pays your beneficiary whenever you pass away, not only within a set term. Part of each premium funds that lifelong benefit, and part builds cash value you can borrow against or surrender later. Premiums are set when the policy is issued and do not rise with age.

It costs more per dollar of coverage than term life, and that trade-off is not right for every client. The fit is strongest when you want protection with no end date, support a dependent who will need help for life, are planning a business succession, or want cash ready for estate costs. If your main need is protection while children are young or a loan is outstanding, we will say so and walk you through term life instead.

Applying for permanent coverage takes some patience. Underwriting often runs several weeks, and we would rather give you an honest date up front than a hopeful one.

What we do for you on a whole life policy

The goal comes first

We begin by asking what the money is for: replacing income, covering final costs, evening out an inheritance or funding a buy-sell agreement. When that is settled, the face amount comes from your goal, not from a sales quota.

Illustrations compared across carriers

We show illustrations from several carriers and separate the guaranteed columns from the projected ones. Dividends on participating policies are never guaranteed, and we tell you so directly.

Choices for how you pay

You can pay for life, finish paying by a certain age, or pay over a shorter period like ten years. We show how each option affects the premium and how cash value builds.

Riders to consider

Waiver of premium, early benefits for serious illness and paid-up additions may each be worth having. We explain the cost of each and leave out the ones that don't suit you.

Beneficiaries set up correctly

We work through with you who gets the benefit first and who is next in line if that person can't. Trusts and minor children call for precise wording, and getting it right now keeps a later claim from being held up by a missing detail.

When a permanent policy starts to make sense

  • A term policy is running out

Coverage that expires soon, while the need is still there, can be expensive to renew at the age you are today. Converting that term policy or starting a new whole life contract is often the better route.

  • A dependent will always need you

Families caring for a son or daughter with special needs usually look for protection that cannot lapse as the years pass. A permanent policy combined with a carefully drafted trust is one way many handle it.

  • You own part of a business

Partners frequently fund buy-sell agreements with permanent policies so the surviving owners can purchase the share without selling assets.

  • You want a fixed, predictable bill

Level premiums suit people who budget carefully and want to know today what the policy will cost at seventy.

  • Estate costs are on your mind

Taxes, probate and debts can strain what you leave behind. A whole life benefit arrives as cash, which can keep heirs from selling property in a hurry.

How the process runs, week by week

  1. 1

    First conversation

We talk by phone about your goals, health history and budget. You leave the call knowing which policy types fit and roughly how long approval should take.

  2. 2

    Application and exam booking

Together we fill out the carrier's forms, then set the paramedical visit for a day and hour you pick, often at your office in Burbank or nearby. You get a clear arrival window for the examiner, and we let you know if it shifts.

  3. 3

    Underwriting

The carrier reviews the exam, prescription history and, when needed, records from your doctors. Those records are the usual source of delay, and we tell you as soon as one is holding things up.

  4. 4

    Offer and review

When the carrier sets your rate class, we go over the final offer line by line. If it came back higher than expected, we explain why and whether another carrier may view your history differently.

  5. 5

    Delivery and first premium

Coverage takes effect once the policy is delivered, signed and the first premium is paid. We confirm the effective date in writing so there is no guessing.

What moves the price of a whole life policy

Whole life premiums are set on the day the policy is issued and stay level from then on. That makes the starting figure worth getting right. These are the factors that shape it most.

Age at issue
Every year you wait raises the premium, and the increase locks in for the life of the policy.
Health and tobacco use
Your rate class depends on exam results, medications and history. Tobacco or nicotine use typically puts you in a much higher class.
Face amount and payment period
A larger benefit costs more, and paying it up over ten or twenty years means higher payments than spreading them over life.
Riders and paid-up additions
Each rider carries its own charge. Paid-up additions raise the outlay but speed cash value growth.

Common questions about whole life

Something not covered here? (818) 600-9452

How long is the approval process for whole life?

Fully underwritten policies commonly need several weeks between application and approval. Straightforward cases go quicker, and medical records requests can slow things down. We give you a realistic range at the outset and update you each time the carrier asks for more.

Can I take a loan from the cash value?

Usually, yes. After cash value builds up, the insurer will lend against it, and interest is charged on the amount borrowed. Whatever is still unpaid comes out of your beneficiary's payout. We show how a loan would affect your specific policy before you take one.

What happens if I can no longer pay premiums?

Your choices depend on the policy and the cash value it has built. You might switch to a reduced paid-up policy, let the cash value pay the premiums, or surrender it for the cash value, though early surrenders often carry charges. We review each option with you before you choose.

Is whole life or term life the better fit?

That depends on how long you need coverage. For a set period, like the years until a loan is paid, term life gives more protection for each premium dollar. Whole life is built for needs that never go away and includes a savings component. Many clients own both, and we can quote each so you can compare.

Will I need a medical exam?

A lot of whole life policies call for a brief paramedical exam, which we schedule to fit your day. Some carriers have simplified issue policies that use only health questions, generally with a higher premium or a lower benefit limit.
